National Tourism Week Recognized By Mississippi Division of Tourism

2012 Legislative Session Profitable For MHRA Members
The first session of the newly elected legislature proved to be very profitable for the restaurant industry. In all, the MHRA tracked over 100 pieces of legislation that impacted the hospitality/tourism industry.
At the end of the session, the MHRA "scored" its activities to determine what the actual impact was for each restaurant. On average, every restaurant in the state was spared $15,500 in additional fees, taxes and other expenses based on the 2012 Legislative Review found here.
The indirect effect of many pieces of legislation will not be felt for some time and for that reason was not included in the scoring process.
At $15,500 per restaurant, the overall impact to Mississippi's restaurant community was nearly $62,000,000!
