What Is A Swizzle Affair?


​A Swizzle Affair is a cocktail competition featuring hometown bartenders and their signature cocktail recipes. Guests will be allowed to sample each bartender's drink. The bartenders will also prepare their cocktails before a panel of professional judges who will determine an overall winner. The first place and second place winners will be awarded cash and/or prizes.  Local restaurants will also be in attendance to provide small servings of their best dishes. A "peoples' choice" award will be chosen by guests and given to the best restaurant of the night.

Who Can Participate? 

  • Bartenders who would like to compete in the cocktail competition must be employed by an MHRA member restaurant.
  • Any restaurant that is a member of the Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association is invited to attend and connect with guests with their favorite dishes.
  • Anyone who would like to attend A Swizzle Affair must be at least 21 years old.

Why Should I Swizzle?
A Swizzle Affair will help fund the Mississippi Restaurant Association Education Foundation (MRAEF) and its efforts to support the ProStart® Program in the state of Mississippi. ProStart is a two year high school program that teaches kids culinary and restaurant management skills to prepare them to enter the workforce, or to continue their education at culinary school or college. The MRAEF funds competitions for ProStart students to compete at the Mississippi ProStart Invitational (MPSI) in 2024 and at the National ProStart Invitational in Baltimore, MD in 2024. The MRAEF also awards scholarships to eligible ProStart graduates who are seeking a post-secondary education. The proceeds from ticket sales, beverage sales and silent auction funds will all benefit the MRAEF and Mississippi ProStart® students.
